MJF mat pilates teacher training 10 day intensive in Puglia, Italy.

  • What

Our mat Pilates teacher training is designed to deepen your connection to the practice of Pilates and give you tools to share it if you so choose. As with all things Moving Just Fine, this training will prepare you to guide bodies in movement from a place of compassion, curiosity, adaptability, playfulness, and sensitivity.

  • Where

Training will take place in Puglia, Italy at Masseria Specula - an ancestral farmhouse that dates back to 1611, perched on a hill overlooking the sea. A location carefully chosen to encourage to slow, integrative learning together. To live with and by the pace of the nature around us, and to lean into enjoyment throughout the process.

  • Why

We absolutely love the practice of Pilates and the art of group learning. As the world becomes increasingly fast paced and scattered, we wanted to see how it would feel to learn in an immersive, integrative, and deeply focused way. No distractions, no multi-tasking. We are here to learn, practice, and connect with ourselves and each other.

The details.

Our mat Pilates teacher training is designed to deepen your connection to the practice of Pilates and give you tools to share it if you so choose.

Whether you are brand new to teaching, or an experienced movement teacher, this training will set you up to teach the full Pilates repertoire, dive into cueing and sequencing, and provide you with the anatomical and bio-mechanical knowledge you need to guide bodies in a science-backed and confident way.

As with all things Moving Just Fine, this training will prepare you to guide bodies in movement from a place of compassion, curiosity, adaptability, playfulness, and sensitivity.

Training.

In our 60 hours of in-person training, we will cover the origins and history of Pilates, the anatomy, bio-mechanics, and movement science required to teach the method inclusively and with confidence, how to sequence a class, and the art of cueing in a body and gender neutral way.

We will learn to teach movements from both the classical and contemporary Pilates repertoire as well as how to teach them progressively and in a way that makes them accessible to as many bodies as possible.

Certification.

Training will be comprehensive, but does not include the 40 hours of personal practice, practice teaching, and class observation required in order to complete certification. In the 3 months following the intensive training, participants will have free access to both in-person and online classes with Moving Just Fine. Practice hours can also be completed at other studios.

Once all documents have been submitted, you’ll be asked to submit a video exam which we will send you written feedback on. Once all criteria are met, certification will be sent by email!

Retreat.

While the primary purpose and bulk of our time together will be spent in training, we also want this experience to be a retreat for participants. All meals are home-cooked at Masseria Specula and are included in the price of the training. The venue itself is minutes away from the sea. We will start our days at 10am and finish at 7pm so you have ample time to explore. We will also have a full day off on Saturday, December 5th with a guided movement practice, and an optional group excursion hike.

Your teachers.

You’ll be guided by Moving Just Fine’s two co-owners Mylène Leclair [she/her] and Meaghan Frances Kelly [she/her].

They each bring more than a decade of teaching experience across multiple modalities including pilates, yoga, mindfulness, and more.

We take a holistic approach to movement, inviting joy, curiosity and challenge into our trainings and teach through a body and gender neutral lens.

Throughout their years of studying Pilates, they have studied at Body Harmonics in Toronto, through Stott Pilates in Montreal, and under Ann McMillan Pilates.

The lineages they are most directly connected to are those of Kathy Grant and Romana Kryzanowska.

Tarif solidaire.

While we are not able to offer scholarships to this training, we do want to remain committed to our mission to democratize the Pilates space by making teacher trainings more accessible to folks who have traditionally been underrepresented and marginalized within the industry and beyond. We are offering a limited number of solidarity rate spots for BIPOC, trans & non binary folks, people in bigger bodies, and differently abled folks. Please apply below to take advantage of this reduced rate.
